Security+ Overview
The IT security industry pays very well, and one way to show your serious is to get the Security+ certification offered by CompTIA. The Security+ course is good starting point as there are no prerequisites, and the exam has 90 questions. The CISSP certification is more recognized, but is more difficult to pass and has 250 exam questions. CompTIA is an industry recognized name, and having this security certification will help you land that next IT security job.

There are no prerequisites but it is recommended that you have at least 2 years of IT administration experience.

Certification Maintenance
The Security+ certification is valid for three years. Prior to the expiration date you must either pass the most current CompTIA Security+ exam or earn 50 continuing education units (CEUs) per renewal period by participating in qualified activities.
